Hancock building dimensions. the top of the john handcock building in Chicago is a rectangle whose length is 60ft more than width. the perimeter is 520 ft. find the width and the length of the rectangle. find the area of the rectangle.

    Length = x + 60 ft

    Width = x

    Perimeter = 520

    Perimeter = 2 (L+W)

    520 = 2 (x+60) + 2 (x)

    520 = 2x + 120 + 2x

    520 = 4x + 120

    520 - 120 = 4x

    400 = 4x

    400/4 = x

    100 = x

    Length = x + 60 = 100 + 60 = 160 ft

    Width = x = 100 ft

    Area = Length * Width

    A = 160ft * 100ft

    A = 16,000 ft²
