To find the rate of one week, we divide the amount of onions used with every week:

    290/2.5 = 116

Now that we have a single rate, we find the amount for 6 weeks:

    116*6 = 696

696 pounds are used in 6 weeks

    290/2.5 = 116 pounds per week

    116 * 6 = 696 pounds
