Suppose the position of an object moving in a straight line is given by s (t) = t^2+5t+2.

a) Find the average velocity between t = 1 and t=5

b) Find the instantaneous Velocity t=1 and t=5

    Finding the average velocity for time t=1 and t = 5

    For t^2 + 5t + 2

    Putting 5 and 1 in to the equation

    = (5^2) - (1^2) + 5 (5-1) + 2

    = 25-1 + 5*4+2

    =24+20+2

    =46m/s

    For instantaneous velocity

    ds/dt is found

    Which gives 2t + 5

    Putting t = 5 15

    Putting t = 1. 7

    Subtracting the answer 8m/s.
