    Given:

    Area of rectangle = 350 sq. ft

    Find:

    Length = ?

    Width = ?

    Solution:

    The area of a rectangle is: L * W = 350 sq. ft

    W = 14 L

    Substitute into the area equation:

    L * 14 L = 350 sq. ft

    14 L^2 = 350 sq. ft

    14 L^2 / 14 = 350 / 14

    L^2 = 25

    Sqrt (L^2) = sqrt (25)

    L = 5

    Then from above:

    W = 14 * 5

    W = 70 ft.

    Therefore, the length of the rectangle is equal to 5 ft. and the width is equal to 70 ft.
