A hot heater measures 20 in diameter. What is the area of a metal base for the water heater, assuming a 2 inch overhang around the base of the water heater

    The diameter of the heater=20 in

    Diameter of the heater and the overhang=20+4=24 in

    the area of the base will therefore be:

    A=πr²

    A=π (24/2) ²

    A=144π in²

    A~452.39 in²
