A segment is divided into two parts having lengths in the ratio of 5:3. If the difference between the length of the parts is 6", find the length of the longest part

    A) x / y = 3 / 5

    A) 5x = 3y

    A) 5x - 3y = 0

    B) y - x = 6

    B) 3y - 3x = 18

    Adding A) and B)

    2x = 18

    x = 9

    y = 15
