    Divide first the given quadratic equation by 2 giving us,

    x² - 8x + 16 = 0

    The additive inverse of the second term of the equation is the sum of the roots and their product is constant or the third term. Let a and b be the roots of the equation such that,

    a + b = 8

    ab = 16

    The values for a and b are both 4. Therefore, the roots are x = 4 and x = 4.
