If the hikers slogged 10 miles in 5 hours through the muck, it means they "walk" 10/5 = 2 miles/hour,

on the pavement they triple their rate, so they would go 2*3 = 6 miles/hour

24/6=4 hours, they need 4 hours to cover 24 miles
