    3x^2-6x+5

    for ax^2+bx+c=0

    discriminant is b^2-4ac

    when

    1. b^2-4ac>0, there are 2 real roots

    2. b^2-4ac=0, there is 1 real root

    3. b^2-4ac<0, there are 2 complex roots

    3x^2-6x+5

    a=3

    b=-6

    c=5

    (-6) ^2-4 (3) (5)

    36-60

    -24

    answer is - 24 is the discriminant
