    -5y+3y=10-8

    -2y=2 (divide by - 2 both sides)

    Y=-1

    -5y+8=-3y+10

    -5y+3y=10-8

    -2y=2

    -2y/-2=2/-2

    y=-1

    I grouped the alike variable to one side, and the number to the other side, added and subtracted it, divided both sides by - 2, and got - 1
