Two-thirds of a number increased by two is ten what is the number?

    Written out, this is 2/3x + 2 = 10

    first, subtract 2 from both sides

    2/3x = 8

    divide by 2/3 on both sides

    8 / 2/3 = 12

    this means x = 12
