In order to have a good comparison, we should compare the price of the same meat and the same amount of meat. So, two parameters are constant (type and amount) and we compare the price.

In our case Jeremy want to purchase package of ground beef.

    There are two possibilities:

    1. 1.2 pound of ground beef for 4.55$

    2. 1.6 pound of ground beef for 6.30$

We should calculate what is the price for example for 1 pound of ground beef in the two cases.

    1. 4.55$/1.2=3.791$

    2.6.30$/1.6=3.937$

    3.791$ <3.937$

Better to buy is the 1.2 pound package of ground beef for 4.55$.
