    Option is B) s + j = 32 & s - j = 4 models this situation

    Explanation:

    Given:

    Total number of students sign up for kayaking trip = 32

    Total number of juniors sign up for kayaking trip = j

    Total Number of seniors sign up for kayaking trip = s

    Solution:

    According to question

    s+j=32 ...1

    s-j=4 ... 2

    From equation (2)

    s=4+j

    substituting the value of s in equation (1),

    (4+j) + j=32

    4+2j=32

    2j=32-4

    2j=28

    j=14

    So the number of juniors who sign up for kayaking trip = 14

    And number of seniors who sign up for kayaking trip = 14+4=18

    Now we check all the options one by one by putting the values of s and j then we will find out that the Option B satisfy the above value of s and j.

    So the correct option is B.
