    A large sphere of diameter 12 ft (radius = 6ft) and a small sphere inside with a radius 3ft. To find the volume of shaded part, we must subtract the volume of the smaller sphere from the large sphere.

    Volume of sphere = (4/3) pi (r3)

    Volume of shaded part = Volume of large sphere - Volume of small sphere

    = (4/3) (pi) (6*6*6) - (4/3) (pi) (3*3*3)

    = 252 pi ft^3
