How many ways are there to arrange five French club members for a yearbook photo if the president and vice president must be seated in front with the other three members behind them?

    Since the president and the vice president must be seated in the front, that's two ways already; p-vp, vp-p.

    Three other member, let's say their names are Bill, Joe, and Nate.

    b-j-n, j-b-n, n-b-j, b-n-j, j-n-b, n-j-b.

    6 different combinations.

    Multiply 6 by 2,

    6 x 2 = 12.

    There are 12 different ways.
