How can you use synthetic substitution to tell whether a given binomial is a factor of a polynomial?

    I've been taught something called synthetic division. From your question I think they're synthetic substitution and division are the same thing.

    If you know how to do it then your last number should be zero. If it isn't zero then the binomial isn't a factor
