    Bicycle: 30 miles/hour

    Scooter: 40 miles/hour

    Step-by-step explanation:

    Let the speed of the bicycle be s,

    Then the speed of the scooter is:

    s + 10

    Distance = speed * time

    Distances covered:

    Bicycle: (s) (5½) = 5.5s

    Scooter: (s + 10) (3) = 3s + 30

    Total:

    5.5s + 3s + 30

    8.5s + 30

    8.5s + 30"285

    8.5s"255

    s"30

    s + 10"40
