    Question:

    At an ice cream shop the ratio of sugar cones sold to waffle cones sold is 9 : 7. If there are 81 sugar cones sold, how many waffles cones would be sold?

    Answer:

    63 waffles were sold

    Solution:

    Given that,

    An ice cream shop the ratio is 9:7

    Therefore,

    Ratio of sugar cone and waffle is 9 : 7

    Let the number of waffles sold be 7x

    Let the number of sugar cones sold be 9x

    81 sugar cones were sold

    Therefore,

    9x = 81

    x = 9

    To find: Number of waffle sold

    number of waffles sold = 7x = 7 (9) = 63

    Thus 63 waffles were sold
