    We need to calculate 7 3/4 * 1/3

    First convert 7 3/4 to an improper farction:-

    7 3/4 = (4*7) + 3 / 4

    = 31/4

    So 31/4 * 1/3 = 31/12

    = 2 7/12 (answer)

    w = width

    l = length

    w = 1/3 length

    l = 7 3/4

    w = 1/3 * length

    w = 1/3 (7 3/4)

    change the mixed number to an improper fraction

    7 3/4 = (4*7+3) / 4 = 31/4

    w = 1/3 (31/4) = 31/12

    12 goes in to 31 2 times with 7 left over

    w = 2 7 / 12
