In a random sample of 90 students in first grade, the mean hours of sleep per night was 9.2 with a standard deviation of 0.37. In a random sample of 70 students in 12th grade, the mean hours of sleep per night was 7.3 with a standard deviation of 0.58. Construct a 99% confidence interval for the difference between the mean hours of sleep.

    +2 SD = 9.94

    +3 SD = 10.31

    -1 SD = 8.83

    -2 SD = 8.46

    -3 SD = 8.09

    1) 8.09 - 9.57 hours of sleep would equate to a 99% interval.

    +1 SD = 7.88

    +2 SD = 8.46

    +3 SD = 9.04

    -1 SD = 6.72

    -2 SD = 6.14

    -3 SD = 5.56

    2) 5.56 - 7.88 hours of sleep.
