    Let's solve for x.

    x-3y=-2

    Step 1: Add 3y to both sides.

    x-3y+3y=-2+3y

    x=3y-2

    Answer:

    x=3y-2

    Let's solve for x.

    x+3y=16

    Step 1: Add - 3y to both sides.

    x+3y+-3y=16+-3y

    x=-3y+16

    Answer:

    x=16+3y
