Express using algebra. The larger of two numbers is twice the smaller. If the larger is x, what is the smaller?

    Let the larger number be x and the smaller number be y.

    Since we know that the larger number is twice the smaller, we can write this expression: x = 2y to express the larger number x.

    And if we bring the 2 over to the other side of the equation, we get y = x/2 to express the smaller number y.
