Write an equation of the line parallel to the given line that contains C.

C (-2,4); y=1/2x+2

    Y = 1/2x + 2 ... the slope here is 1/2. A parallel line will have the same slope.

    y = mx + b

    slope (m) = 1/2

    (-2,4) ... x = - 2 and y = 4

    now we sub and find b, the y int

    4 = 1/2 (-2) + b

    4 = - 1 + b

    4 + 1 = b

    5 = b

    so ur parallel line is : y = 1/2x + 5
