    Original population times 1.35 will give that population plus 35% increase.

    1.35x = 89,100

    x = 66,000

    The answer is 66,000

    you use 35/100 multiplied by x = 89100 - x

    35x = 100 (89100-x)

    35x = 8910000-100x

    135x=8910000

    x=8910000/135

    x=66000
