Lo bisects nlm lm=18 no=4 and ln=10. what is the value of x

    I found the figure that accompanies this problem.

    ΔLMN; LO bisects the triangle creating 2 right triangles.

    Δ LOM and Δ LON

    Δ LOM; hypotenuse = LM = 18; short leg = OM = x

    Δ LON; hypotenuse = LN = 10; short leg = NO = 4

    similar triangles but not congruent.

    hypotenuse / short leg:

    18/x = 10/4

    cross multiplication:

    18 * 4 = 10 * x

    72 = 10x

    72/10 = x

    7.2 = x

    18/x = 10/4

    18/7.2 = 10/4

    2.5 = 2.5
