    Hardwood bags = 48 pieces

Pine bark bags = 108 pieces

    Step-by-step explanation:

Let, the number of hardwood bags = X

The number of pine bark bags = 156 - X

    According to the question,

    3X + 2.75 * (156-X) = 441

    or, 3X + 429 - 2.75X = 441

    or, 0.25X = 441 - 429

    or, 0.25X = 12

    or, X = 12/0.25

    or, X = 48

Therefore, the number of hardwood bags, X = 48

    The number of pine bark bags = 156 - 48 = 108

    Notes:

    Hardwood bags = 48*$3 = $144

    Pine bark bags = 108*$2.75 = $297

    Total sales = $144 + $297 = $441
