A fraction is just a short way of writing a division problem.

Whenever you see a fraction, it actually means

the numerator (top number) divided bythe denominator (bottom number).

    - - If you're starting with a mixed number, change it to an improper fraction.

    - - Now perform the division indicated by the fraction. Personally, I prefer

long division using a pencil, but you may certainly use a calculator if you

    wish.

The quotient ... the answer to the division ... is the decimal form of the fraction

    or the mixed number.
