Why are triangles used to build bridges, roofs, and other constructions? Why is triangle preferred over other types of polygons?

    Triangles are better at distributing weight equally throughout the structure, due to their gradual incline.

    Triangular roofs also have the advantage of letting water and other debris fall naturally downward to the side of the structure, while other polygons can collect water and other items.
