of available memory on Joy's computer before installing the new software. Show that your

    How I approach solving a problem such as this is:

    First, I start with what I like to call the "knowns". So we know the available memory left on the computer after the installing the new software is:

    475.2MB

    2.) Once I have my first "known" identified I write it down on a piece of paper. The next thing I do is look for any more remaining "knowns" in the problem. With this particular problem we see that the second and final "known" is of course the 36.8MB of memory the newly installed software used. So I take the 36.8MB and I add it to the amount of memory remaining on the computer after installing the new software. We already identified the amount of memory remaining as 475.2

    On paper for example, it should look something like this:

    475.2

    + 36.8

    Once you add those two numbers together you get 512.

    Lastly, you just need to add abbreviation "MB" immediately after the number 512. Once that has been done, you are left with the correct amount of Memory the computer had available before installing the new software, which is:

    512MB
