At sunset, the temperature was 4 degrees. Then at sunrise the next morning, it was - 7 degrees. What is the difference between these temperatures?

    It's 11 degrees.

    Since you have to do 4 - - 7, you can leave the seven, change the subtraction sign to an addition, and make - 7 the opposite (7), the equation would be 4 + 7, making it 11 degrees.
