    Y = 1i = i

    y³ - 3y²

    (i) ³ - 3 (i) ² i ² = - 1, i³ = i² (i) = - i

    i³ - 3i²

    -i - 3 (-1)

    -i + 3

    Y^3-3y^2

    (1+i) ^3-3 (1+i) ^2

    remember

    (1+i) ^3 = (1+i) (1+i) ^2

    (1+i) (1+i) ^2-3 (1+i) ^2

    factor out (1+i) ^2

    (1+i) ^2 ((1+i) - 3)

    (1+i) ^2 (1+i-3)

    (1+i) ^2 (i-2)

    (1+i) (1+i) (i-2)

    (1+2i-1) (i-2)

    (2i) (i-2)

    -2-4i
