    We can set this up as an equation

    We know that there are 15% (0.15) of the total number of students (X) is 45

    So, if we multiply X by 0.15, we get 45

    X (0.15) = 45

    In order to get X alone, we can divide both sides by 0.15

    X=300

    So, there are 300 total students
