(Not sure this is college stuff) So basically, whatever is in parentheses has higher priority over the other numbers, so whatever is in those will be multiplied/subtracted/added/divided first. So you multiply those, then add 5 to it.

Answer: Five plus Two times Six
The parenthesis equation is two times six. Then out of that is 5. So it's 5 plus 2 times six.
