A field has an area of 9/20 square mile. Find the width of the field if the length is 9/10 mile long.

    9/20 = w x (9/10)

    w = (9/20) / (9/10)

    w = (9/20) x (10/9) = 1/2

    Width=Area/Length

    Area=9/20 (.45)

    Length=9/10 (.9)

    w=.45/.9

    w=1/2

    Therefore, the width is 1/2 (.5)
