72 is a composite number because 72 is divisible by 2,3,4 ..., which is not 1 or 72.
A prime number is only divisible by 1 and itself.

72 is a composite number.
Because a prime number is a whole number that only has two factors (itself and 1)
For example: 3 is prime, 7 is prime.
A composite number has factors in addition to one and itself.
For example: 25 is composite, 120 is composite.
