    2 (4a-12) + 3a=6a

    Multiply the bracket by 2

    (2) (4a) = 8a

    (2) (-12) = 24

    8a-24+3a=6a

    8a+3a-24=6a (combine like terms)

    11a-24=6a

Move 11a to the other side. Sign changes from + 11a to - 11a.

    11a-11a-24=6a-11a

    -24=6a-11a

    -24=-5a

Divide both sides by - 5

    -24/-5=-5a/-5

    Answer: a=24/5 or a = 4 4/5 or in decimal x=4.8
