The perimeter of the bottom of a rectangular swimming pool is 54 meters. The area is 170 square meters. What are the dimensions of the pool?

    x+y=54, y=54-x

    x*y=170, y=170/x

    54-x=170/x

    54x-x^2-170=0

    x^2-54x+170=0

    x = (54 (+/-) root2916-680) / 2

    x=27 (+/-) root559

    x+y=3.35+50.65=54

    x*y=3.35*50.65=170m

    Dimensions are 3.35m and 50.65m
