Ashley wants to divide her 63 shirts into two groups, so that the ratio of the number of shirts in the first group to the number of shirts in the second group is 3 to 4. How many shirts will be in each group?

    27 in the first group, 36 in the second. Here's the work: Divide 63 by 7 (3 parts plus 4 parts) equals 9. Multiply 9 by 3 for the first group and you get 27, multiply 9 by 4 for the second group to get 36.
