    7,744 (96.8% of population at the beginning of the year)

    Step-by-step explanation:

    Population of the city at the beginning of the year = 8000people

    Yearly percentage decrease = 3.2%

    This means at the end of the first year the population reduces by 3.2% which gives 3.2%of 8000

    = 3.2/100 * 8000

    = 3.2 * 80

    = 256

    This shows that the population decreases by 256 at the end of first year.

    To get the 1year percentage change in population, we will subtract the percentage decrease in Population from the initial population to give;

    8000 - 256

    = 7,744

    7,744population remains after 1year wish is (100-3.2) % i. e 96.8% of the population at the beginning of the year.
