A pizza with a diameter of. 16 inches is cut into 10 equal sized pieces as shown below. an engineer is asked to design a box to hold a single slice of pizza. what is the length of the crust, x, of one slice of pizza? round to the nearest inch.

    First find the circumference of the whole pizza using the equation C = πd, where C is the circumference of the pizza and d is the diameter of the pizza.

    C = π16in

    C ≈ 50in

    Then divide the circumference by the number of pieces, in this case ten, to get your final answer.

    50in / 10slices = 5in of crust per slice.
