Hector bought a tie that was 2.5 ft long. When he tied it into a knot the tie was 40% shorter. How long is the tied tie?

    What you should do is take 40% of 2.5 ft and subtract it to 2.5 ft.

    (2.5) * (1-0.4) = 1.5 ft

    the tied tie is 1.5 ft long
