    You have to use inverse operations to get rid of the smallest number with a variable you have to subtract 1.6 on both sides and get

    3.6w = 1.6w+24

    -1.6 - 1.6

    then when you are done subtracting you get

    2w = 24

    Then you divide by 2 to isolate the variable (to get the variable by itself) and get

    w=12

    Ok first its a 2 step equation so get all the varibles to one side and all the whole numbers on the other so subtract 1.6w from both sides and you get 1.8w=24 then didvide by 1.8 on the whole equation to get w=13 and 1/3
