Find the value of KL.

KL = 3x + 2 and LM = 5x - 10

    From the given graph, we can tell kl=lm

    therefore,

    3x + 2 = 5x - 10

    3x+2-2=5x-10-2

    subtract 2 from both sides.

    3x + 0 = 5x-12 3x=5x-12

    3x-5x=5x-5x-12

    subtract 5x from both sides.

    -2x=0-12 - 2x=-12 (-2x) / - 2=-12/-2

    divide both sides by - 2.

    1x = 6 - 12/-2=6

    and of course the - 2 and - 2 cancel on left side leaving 1x.

    x=6

    KL = 3x+2 = 20 units
