50/200; multiply that by 5 and you get 250/1000. therefore, 250 students would prefer chocolate.

The first ratio of chocolate to total students preference is 50/200. If there are approximately 1000 students, then we can find the new?/1000 ratio by multiplying the denominator or total to get 1000

200*5=1000, so we would have to multiply thr numerator as well because you have to multiply noth the top and bottom to have an equal ratio. 50*5 = 250.

The new ratio for chocolate preference to the total is 250/1000, which just means that 250 of the total 1000 students prefer chocolate ice cream
