    If x is the number of chairs in a row

    4x + 5 = 2x + 17

    2x = 12

    x=6

    There are 6 chairs in each row. Now you have to find the total

    4x+5 = 4 (6) + 5 = 29

    And now double check

    2 (x) + 17 = 2 (6) + 17 = 29

    Liam has 29 Chairs
