Which is a correct first step in solving 5 - 2x < 8x - 3?

    First option isn't correct because when you transfer - 2x on other side you get 10x and not 6x.

    Second option isn't correct either. Transfering 5 on other side (from left to right) will get - 3-5 = - 8 and we still have - 3

    Third option is correct. We get 10x on right side when switching - 2x from left and it will change its sign and will be 2x+8x = 10x on right.

    Finally, forth one is not correct. - 3 when goes from right side to left will change sign to + 3 and when summed with 5 will get 8 and not 2.
