    132 sweatshirts, 22 baseball caps.

    1) Set up system of equations like:

    x+y=154

    20x+10y=2860

    2) Solve

    x+y=154

    -2x-y=-286

    -x=-132

    x=132

    132+y=154

    y=22

    3) Substitute answers into variables and check.

    132 = x sweatshirts, 22 = y baseball caps

    total merchandise sold: 154

    x + y = 15420 x + 10 y = 2,86020 (132) + 10 (22) = 2,8602,640 + 220 = 2,860

    x + y = 154132 + 22 = 154

    -2x - y = 286-2 (132) - 22 = - 286

    -x = - 132-132 = - 132

    132 + y = 154132 + 22 = 154
