    Cost of running shoes after 20% off = $60.23

    let us find what was the original price of shoes.

    Let us say original price was $x

    Now according to question we have 20% off this original price x.

    So 20% of x = 0.2x

    price after discount = original price - discount = x-0.2x

    Now we have 20% of x equal to $60 (discounted price)

    Forming an equation:

    x-0.2x = 60

    0.8x = 60

    dividing both sides by x, we have

    x=$75

    So original price was $75.
