Kimberly traveled to her friend's house and went 300miles in 5 hour. On her way home she took a different route and trveled 420 miles in 7 hours. Are these ratios equivalent? Use proportion to show complete work.

    Here the average speed for going to friends house = 300/5 miles/hr

    = 60 miles/hour

    And average speed while coming back = 420/7 miles/hour

    =60 miles/hour

    I. e. 300/5 = 420/7 = 60 miles/hr

    Hence the ratios are equivalent in both ways

    300 miles/5 hours=60 miles per hour

    420 miles/7 hours=60 miles per hour

    therefore they both have an equivalent proportion of 60 miles per hour
