    Area = 297 square feet

    Step-by-step explanation:

    Let L = length of the rectangle

    Let W = width of the rectangle

    L = W + 24

    perimeter of the rectangle = 84 ft

    Perimeter = 2 (L+W)

    = 2L + 2W

    Put L = W + 24 into formula for perimeter

    84 = 2 (W+24) + 2W

    84 = 2W + 48 + 2W

    84 = 4W + 48

    84 - 48 = 4W

    36 = 4W

    W = 36/4

    W = 9 ft

    Put W = 9 ft into L = W + 24

    L = 9 + 24

    L = 33 ft

    Area of a rectangle = L*B

    Area = 33*9

    = 297 square feet
